Geoffrey de Anjou

Duke of Anjou. Geoffrey was a brother of Thierry. The brothers were often mentioned together.

Geoffrey and his brother were among those who closely served Charlemagne. In war, it was Geoffrey who was the king's standard bearer. He served under Charlemagne himself, carrying the oriflamme, in the tenth division of Charlemagne's army. It was also he who blew the bugle for the king's men to arm themselves, when Baligant's army was sighted.
